New Article: Willa Ford Waiting in
the Wings
If there's one artist who's been
a victim of both the entertainment
and business side of the industry,
it's bad girl Willa Ford. Her 2001
debut, Willa Was Here brought her
a top 10 hit with "I Wanna Be
Bad", but along with her success
came a few downfalls. Female audiences
weren't always so kind to Ms. Ford.
Maybe because she had dated Backstreet
Boy, Nick Carter. Maybe because her
thong stuck out of her jeans before
it was the style. Now in 2004, when
bad means good, Willa might just win
over those haters. With her new single
"A Toast To Men" and her
follow-up album just waiting to be
released, Willa Ford is back and is
as real as ever.

|

Back in 2001, Amanda
Williford (aka Willa Ford) took the
pop scene by storm with her smash hit
"I wanna be bad", but as quickly
as she graced the magazine covers, MTV
and the radio airways, she then disappeared
just as quick. Well now she is back,
but don't call it a come back because
she was never really gone, she has been
working on her new album "Sexysexobsessive".
The first single of the new album, "A
Toast to Men", with its catchy
chorus, "Fuck the men, let's drink
to us" is rapidly gaining popularity
in the clubs.

New Article: WILLA FORD IS OBSESSED WITH
SEX
You may know her as the girl who wants
to be bad, but truth be told, Willa Ford
is just like everybody else. On this winter
morning, she's like a lot of other people
and home sick with the flu. Though she's
at the tail end of it, she's about to start
another fever with the release of her new
album, Sexysexobsessive. The first single,
"A Toast To Men (Fuck The Men),"
which borrows its infectious hook from a
classic sorority chant, is making an impact
in dance clubs and on radio stations. And
any rocker gal who sings about fucking men,
well, that's a chick we'd switch for in
a heartbeat.

Due to the recent happenings
with Warner Music Group, many may wonder
if Willa and her label (LAVA), which operates

to Lyor Cohen, the new head of Warner Music
Group's U.S. recorded music division, LAVA
will continue its operations uninterrupted.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Records and Elektra

Willa Ford. He said he knows Kelly Osbourne
doesn't like her and that she's hot. Howard
asked her what record label she's with.
She told Howard that she's with Lava Records
and most of the other people on the label
are rock stars like Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker.
She said she had to work from a young age
to get that record deal. She said she did
a lot of practicing and a talent scout discovered
her at a benefit she sang at. She said that
the guy turned out to be a con-artist but
it led to her getting into show business.
He sent her out to Los Angeles and claimed
to know a lot of people out there. She said
her mother was with her the whole time.

Song titles hit bleeping new low
Two singles have made news at radio
lately because of something their
titles have in common. It's a word
that generally isn't used in polite
conversation.
The f-word, as we'll refer to it,
is prominent in the titles and unedited
versions of F-word It (I Don't Want
You Back), the deceptively sweet,
R&B-based debut from 20-year-old
singer/songwriter Eamon, and Willa
Ford's A Toast to Men (F-word the
Men), a hip-hop and dancehall-fueled
anthem that employs the subtitle as
its refrain.

On her second album, tentatively
titled Sexysexobsessive and due early
next year, Willa Ford mixes Christina
Aguilera's dance-influenced raunch
with Pink's confessional pop. The
set's first single, "A Toast

chant into a female-empowerment anthem.
"I was hanging out at a sorority
party with some friends," Ford
says, "and I heard these girls

It was a no-brainer. I had to do a
song about it." The taunt goes:

New Article/Interview: Willa Ford Isn't
Bad Afterall
While Britney
Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore,
and Jessica Simpson have all become household
names, Willa Ford has always been on the
outside. As the "bad girl of pop"
she has been surrounded by a storm of rumors
since her career began. The attention on
Willa all started when she began dating
Backstreet Boy, Nick Carter. Fans of the
boyband soon turned against Willa as rumors
spread that she was physically abusing Carter.
Today, Willa looks back at that experience
and says that it did hurt her then. "It
actually got to me a little bit at first
and then I was like this isn't my problem,
this is their own internal issues. At that
time I was only like 18, now I'm 22. Those
things don't even matter to me now. A lot
of those fans who hated me then are my fans
now. They realized that it was ridiculous.
Me and Nick are friends again, which took
a lot of time."
Her latest single, "A Toast To Men"
is an anthem for all the girls who are fed
up with the men in their lives. On the song,
Willa collaborates with upcoming singer,
May, who makes an impressive debut. The
result is a steamy preview of what is to
come on Willa's sophomore record. Willa
says that this time around she is creating
her own sound. "You can cop somebody's
sound and it'll make you one of this or
one of that, but as far as I'm concerned,
I just want to blow it up," Willa explained
during our telephone interview. "I
have been trying to create a new sound.
It is a lot better than coming out with
the same sound, I mean that is easy. People
don't realize that all that is money. That's
not talent, that is just money you spent.
I took time so that I could develop my own
sound."
Last time we heard from Willa she was singing
her debut single, "I Wanna Be Bad".
With a new album and a few more years of
life experience, Willa is back to prove
that she really has grown up. "I'm
a lot older, you know. I've grown up. I
really took the time. The music that I'm
into right now has changed a lot. I like
a little more industrial, rock, electronic,
trance stuff right now. So, that kind of
shows on the album. It is just a lot more
musical. Instead of writing to a track I
did a lot of writing to a guitar and piano,
rather than a beat, which changes the melody
of the song dramatically. I'd say that is
the biggest difference. I really didn't
put any boundaries on myself on this record."
Taking her sophomore record to a new level
was a struggle for Willa who admits that
her and label, Lava Records, have butted
heads many times. "Have they given
me any problems with being sexy? No. Have
they given me any problems about me being
who I am? No. Have we had some butting of
the heads on the music and the fact that
I want to take it to a different level?
Yes. But, that is normal, that is what the
label does. They try to keep you more mainstream
and what not. It is hard because as an artist,
I'm really an artistic person, which may
not come across in some of the music that
I have done, but I happen to be really creative.
I can really go off the deep end if I am
allowed," Willa says laughing.
On the day of our interview, Willa was also
scheduled to speak with none other than
Playboy Magazine. "Doing an interview
with them, I have no problem with that.
As far as would I ever pose in Playboy,
no way in hell. There is a point where bad
girl has to cut her limits too. When you
get into posing naked, you are talking my
family disowning me and stuff, that just
isn't ok with me," she says laughing.
"The women that do that have to do
that, that is their career. Just like singing
is mine, I don't need to make a career of
being naked, I think I'm doing fine with
my first career. I can't say I wasn't nervous
about the Playboy interview, but when it
was brought to me I was told that it would
be done tastefully and fun. I love the Playboy
logo and what it stands for, I love that
there are all these sexy women running around,
I think it is funny. Everyone says 'they
are skanky' and I'm like 'everybody does
their own thing.' You know, I'm not running
around naked so more power to them."
As my final question, I asked Willa "If
you were a fly whose wall would you land
on?" She responded with a common answer
nowadays. "I want to know what the
hell is really going on with the war. I
would want to fly into like the CIA or something
super confidential kind of situation. I
have friends over there so I just want to
know what is going on. The war has done
a lot of good, but the question is, in the
long run. Was what we did for the better
of the people over there or for the better
of America? I don't really know if it was
our business, but I don't know. That is
why I would want to be a fly on the wall
to find out."
After interviewing Willa Ford I realized
that all the rumors that have followed her
for so long are simply untrue. The future
looks terrific for Willa as she can finally
move passed the rumors and focus solely
on her music.

Willa was MAXIM'S GF of the day
Willa Ford
Birthdate:

Young love:
Im a healthy, 22-year-old female.
Im not abstinent.
Where youve seen her:
You may remember this self-styled bad girl
from a few years back when she burst onto
the pop scene with her debut album, Willa
Was Here. It spawned the hit single I
Wanna Be Bad and gave her instant
fame, leading to a variety of stints appearing
on and hosting the MTV programs The Beach
House, TRL, and Spring Break. She now returns
with the upbeat dance single A Toast
to Men.
You cant judge a pop star by her
tantrums:
Its funny. When people meet
me, they often say, Youre not
what I expected. What did they expect?
Some diva bitch that stomps in and starts
breaking things?
Sounding off:
Did I ask for producers who get $75,000
to produce a song? No. They get that money
because theyve created a sound, and
its their sound. I dont want
their sound. Their sound is not going to
help me grow as a person.
Writing between the lines:
There are so many singers in my genre
that are saying, Im writing
my material, and theyre contributing
two lines. When I go in to write and record
with other professionals, its exciting
to watch people change their mind about
me.
Her calling:
I believe in destiny. From the day
I was born, this is what I was put on this
earth to do. I was so focused on music at
such a young age
people just cant
comprehend it. My family and friends all

Willa Ford had no problem convincing the
masses a couple years ago that she was Atlantic's
bad girl. Not only did hit single "I
Wanna Be Bad" take a swipe at the pop-princess
mold, but her refreshingly audacious persona
KO'd PC attitudes into a coma. Weighing
Willa 2001 against the 2003 model, however,
shows just how far musical morality has
moved to the left. "A Toast to Men"
is cleaned up for radio, but that doesn't
hide the predominant hook (supposedly an
age-old sorority chant): "Here's to
the men we love to love/Here's to the men
in love with us/Here's to the men that pass
on us/fuck the men, let's drink to us."
A saucy (but graciously playful) videoclip
adds fuel to the flamboyant raunch. While
pushing the envelope this far comes across
as a calculated moveafter all, it
takes some effort to take attention from
pin-up models Britney and Christina nowadaysthere's
no hiding the fact that underneath it all,
a pop hook and catchy chants give this ditty
much more meat to the bone than one might
suspect. Ford is not reinventing the wheel
here, but she's definitely one savvy vixen.

"Young Uns Come Out in Hollywood:
Vogue & XOXO Throw a Party" |

 |
Young Hollywood turned
out in force to party with Vogue and
XOXO on Monday night at Concorde in
West Hollywood, even braving a massive
traffic jam created by the partys
valets, who struggled to figure out
where to put all the cars. Once the
revelers made it inside, they were greeted
by blaring house tunes and waiters handing
out slivers of pizza, salmon canapés,
and chicken on skewers. After nearly
an hour of the crowd pressing into all
of the possible space, both indoors
and out, the XOXO fashion show began.
As a gaggle of scruffy Hollywood boys
looked on, including Johnny Galecki
("Vanilla Sky"), Dominic Monaghan
("Lord of the Rings"), Emile
Hirsch ("Emperors Club"),
and made admiring comments more about
the models than the designs, Alex Alfaro
and Perri Cohen showed their Spring
2004 collection for XOXO. The line is
an eclectic mix of old and new, with
micro-minis circa 1969 in various colors
and fabrics paired with cropped jean
jackets and stiletto heels. The Sixties
were also mirrored with butt-cheek revealing
hot pants, Op Art designs, and elephant-bell
jeans. Even the models looked retro,
as some sported beehive hairdos. But
in the end, XOXO eschewed the old and
went with the staple that every womans
wardrobe must have. They finished the
show with a phalanx of little black
dresses, most body-hugging designs with
asymmetrical hems and plunging backs,
to the applause of the appreciative
crowd. Later, Willa Ford performed
songs from her new CD, and the models
mixed with the other beautiful ingenues
in the crowd, from Tamara Braun and
Sarah Laine (both from "General
Hospital"), to Leighton Meester
("Tarzan"), Nora Zehetner
("Everwood"), Ashley Scott
("SWAT"), and that other Duff,
Haylie, who looks like her sister Hilarys
doppelganger. Everyone left happily
with a Vogue goodie bag packed with
XOXO products including a little tee
and a stylized cosmetics bag -- good
thing, as it gave them something to
do while waiting for those valets to
find their cars.
